New Zealand, Pakistan washed out

Pakistan can now only draw their one-day international series away in New Zealand after rain forces the abandonment of the second match.

The second one-day international between New Zealand and Pakistan in Napier was abandoned without a ball having been bowled this morning.

The umpires carried out several inspections of the pitch at McLean Park, but it was eventually deemed that the persistent rain had made the outfield too wet for play.

It means that touring Pakistan, who lost the first encounter by 70 runs on Monday, can now only level the three-match series.

The third and final game between the two nations is scheduled to be played on Sunday in Auckland.
