Jos Buttler will play for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League after the side bought him for £385,000 in the IPL auction.
The wicketkeeper-batsman, whose unbeaten 48 helped England across the line in the second ODI with South Africa earlier on Saturday, decided to play in the tournament after losing his Test place to Jonny Bairstow.
England are due to play a three-match Test series with Sri Lanka in May and June, while the IPL is scheduled to run after the World T20 between April 9 and May 31.
Elsewhere, Shane Watson went for a top bid of £950,000 from Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kevin Pietersen was sold to new side Rising Pune Supergiants for £350,000.
Ravi Bopara and Sam Billings were still unsold by the end of the first round of the auction.
