Glenn Maxwell hit 95 runs off just 43 balls as Kings XI Punjab continued their 100% start to the Indian Premier League with a 72-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad this evening.
The Sunrisers won the toss and chose to field but couldn't take an early wicket as Virender Sehwag (30) and Cheteshwar Pujara (35) progressed the scorecard.
Sehwag's wicket in the seventh over brought Maxwell to the crease and he lit up the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, smashing nine sixes and five fours on his way to 95.
Amit Mishra took his wicket with two overs remaining before Punjab advanced the score to 193-6 by the end of their 20 overs.
The Sunrisers, who have now lost their first two games of this year's tournament, never looked like threatening their victory target after Mitchell Johnson removed Shikhar Dhawan in the second over.
None of the Sunrisers scored more than 30, with Lokesh Rahul (27) the only man to score more than 20 as they were bowled out for 121 in the final over.
