Duncan Fletcher has been offered a new one-year deal as India coach, which will run until 2014.

The Zimbabwean took up the post following India's World Cup victory in 2011, with his initial two-year deal due to expire next month.

Fletcher has come under fire after India lost high-profile Test series against England and Australia, but the Indian cricket board (BCCI) have kept faith with the former England coach.

"The board has decided to extend his contract," ESPN quotes BCCI president Narayanaswami Srinivasan as saying.

"But we have to discuss the terms. I can't tell you the deliberations of the board. All I can tell you is what is the decision. We have decided to extend it."

India are currently participating in a Test series against Australia.
