Alastair Cook hit a double hundred for England on day four of the first Test against Pakistan.

Beginning the day 233 runs behind the hosts, Cook was lucky to continue beyond 173 as Pakistan wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed dropped a low one-handed chance.

Imran Khan was then convinced that Joe Root should have been dismissed lbw, but umpire Paul Reiffel was quick to dismiss the calls.

Having started the day on three runs, Root surpassed 50 in straightforward fashion, before Cook levelled Kevin Pietersen's three Test double hundreds for England after more than 10 hours at the crease.

England have now worked their way to 400-3 at lunch, 123 runs short of the hosts.
