England struggle in morning session

England lose three wickets before lunch on day one of the first Test against Sri Lanka.

England have made a disappointing start to the first Test match against Sri Lanka at Lord's, with the home side falling to 98-3 at lunch.

Debutant Sam Robson lasted just seven balls and four overs in total as he was caught behind by Prasanna Jayawardene off the bowling of Nuwan Pradeep for just one.

Captain Alastair Cook did not last much longer, as he was bowled dragging on for 17 by Nuwan Kulasekara to leave England struggling on 22-2.

Ian Bell and Gary Ballance put together a mini-partnership before he went for 23 thanks to the same combination that dismissed Robson.

Joe Root (5) and Bell (41) saw off the remaining overs of the session needing a strong partnership in order to get England back into contention in the match.
