England withstood late pressure from the West Indies tail-end batsmen to win the third and final Twenty20 by five runs in Barbados.
The hosts blew their chance to make it 3-0 in the series when skipper Darren Sammy failed to hit the six his side required off the final ball.
Helped on by a 63 opener from Michael Lumb, England laid down a solid 165 for six as they batted first, with Alex Hales adding a 38 and Chris Jordan producing four sixes in the last over.
The West Indies made a poor start to their reply, with Dwayne Smith bowled off at the first delivery and Johnson Charles toppling in the next over.
Lendl Simmons managed to produce a 69 off 55 balls before being run out in the last over, and Sammy blasted two fours and a six to give his side a fighting chance, but was unable to secure the six they required off the final ball from Jade Dernbach.
The two teams will now head to Bangladesh for the Twenty20 World Cup, which gets underway this Sunday.
