Michael Vaughan rules out replacing Andy Flower

Michael Vaughan rules himself out of the running to replace Andy Flower as England's head coach.

Michael Vaughan has dismissed suggestions that he could be named as England's new head coach in the near future.

The former England captain has been one of the names mentioned as a possible replacement for Andy Flower, who resigned last week, but Vaughan insists that he would not be prepared to take on the role.

"I think there are many ex-players who would love an involvement," the 39-year-old told reporters.

"Of course if I get a call, and someone says to me 'would you like some involvement in trying to help English cricket move forward?' Absolutely. But would I want to be the head coach? Probably not"

However, Vaughan admitted that he may be open to taking on the job in the future, adding: "I'm only pretty young and you just never know where life is going to take you but at this stage I would really think that it is not the right time for me to be the coach of the England team."

Vaughan captained England in 51 Test matches between 2003 and 2008.
