James Taylor hopes to stake England claim

Nottinghamshire batsman James Taylor hopes to impress England's selectors and earn himself during the YB40 final at Lord's on Saturday and earn himself an Ashes call-up.

James Taylor wants to use the grand stage of a Lord's final to impress England's selectors and earn himself a place on the Ashes Tour to Australia this winter.

The Nottinghamshire Outlaws batsman, who has been touted as a possible inclusion in England's middle order for the reverse series against the old enemy, will feature for his domestic side in their YB40 final against Glamorgan Dragons at the home of cricket on Saturday.

"Hopefully I can perform for my side on the day which will hopefully give the selectors one final reminder," he told Sky Sports News.

"I've had a brief taste of international cricket so far - I've played a couple of ODIs and a couple of Tests - and it would be nice to get a game in the winter in Australia."

Taylor, who played two Tests against South Africa in 2011, was called up as injury cover for Kevin Pietersen for the third match of this summer's Ashes series at Old Trafford.
