Joe Root has used the old adage of 'form is temporary, class is permanent' to insist that England wicketkeeper Matt Prior will soon get out of his recent rut.
Prior had scored only four runs in his first three innings of the Ashes series, but closed the fourth day of the second Test at Adelaide unbeaten on 31 as England battle for an unlikely draw.
Root, who top-scored with 87 on Sunday to help the tourists to 247-6, has backed Prior to either kick on from his current position on Monday or record a big score in the near future.
"Prior is a class act & I know a score is just around the corner for him, whether in this match or in coming innings", Root told the England and Wales Cricket Board's official Twitter account.
Prior has scored 3817 runs at an average of 41.48 in his 71 Test matches.
