Eoin Morgan hoping to turn around poor run of form in England's next outing

Eoin Morgan is at a loss to explain his current run of poor form, which has seen him take just two runs from five innings for England.

England skipper Eoin Morgan has admitted that he is struggling to understand why his form has dropped at an alarming rate in recent weeks.

The 28-year-old has taken just two runs from five innings, with his duck against Australia in last weekend's World Cup clash his fourth in seven outings.

Ahead of his side's meeting with another of the co-hosts in New Zealand on Friday, a match which will be played in front of 34,000 spectators, Morgan says that he will look to keep things simple as he aims to bounce back.

"I'd love you to explain it to me because I don't understand it," The Telegraph quotes him as saying. "Personally I try and keep it as simple as possible.

"You don't look any further than what's in front of you and I've done that and it hasn't worked, but I believe it will work and when it does hopefully I can cash in on it and hopefully make it either a match-winning performance or build on somebody else's performance."

It was announced earlier this week that Morgan will join up with his former England teammate Kevin Pietersen in the Indian Premier League after both were purchased by Sunrisers Hyderabad.
