Alex Hales, Michael Carberry go unsold in Indian Premier League auction

English batsmen Alex Hales and Michael Carberry go unsold during the Indian Premier League auction.

The eight Indian Premier League franchises opted against recruiting England batsmen Alex Hales or Michael Carberry during this morning's auction.

Kevin Pietersen, Ravi Bopara and Eoin Morgan were all signed up and it was anticipated that both Hales and Carberry would join their compatriots.

However, the duo went unsigned, along with a number of big-name players that had been tipped to feature in the IPL.

Among those not to be picked up were Hashim Amla, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Ross Taylor, Marlon Samuels and Cameron White.
