Joe Root has insisted that he has given no consideration to the prospect of captaining England at Test level.
It is widely accepted that when Alastair Cook steps aside from the role, 24-year-old Root will be a leading contender to fill the void.
However, the batsman has stressed that his main focus at present is on the team's upcoming tour of South Africa.
"It's not something I'm thinking about, to be honest. I'm happy with what I'm doing at the moment," he told Sky Sports News.
"Further down the line who knows what's going to happen, but for me it's about concentrating on this tour, trying to get as many runs as possible and assisting Cooky whenever available."
Root is currently the vice-captain to Cook, having replaced Ian Bell in that position earlier this year.
