Alex Hales aiming to "push for Test recognition"

Nottinghamshire batsman Alex Hales is hoping to capture the attention of England's Test selectors this season.

Alex Hales has revealed that he is keen to make an impression on the selectors that pick the England Test team.

The 26-year-old, who has represented England in the one-day and T20 formats of the game, scored 954 runs for Nottinghamshire in the County Championship last season.

Ahead of the new campaign, which gets underway on April 12, the batsman is eager to carry on that form to give himself the best chance of earning "Test recognition".

"I desperately want to carry that form into this season. The selectors look very hard at red and white ball cricket," he told the Nottingham Post.

"Four-day cricket is an area I've worked really hard on over the last 18 months. Last year was a big step on the year before.

"That said, I still want to improve and build again. It's up to me to score heavily in four day cricket here and hopefully push for Test recognition."

Nottinghamshire begin the new term against Middlesex at Lord's.
