England coach Andy Flower has refused suggestions that his side viewed their trip to Queenstown as a holiday ahead of their New Zealand Test tour.
The England team and backroom staff took part in a number of activities during their time in Queenstown, including a canyon swing shortly before their four-day match against a New Zealand.
Flower's team made a slow start to the first Test against New Zealand before recovering to clinch a draw. However, a number of former players raised questions over their "holiday" following their early troubles.
"There's been a little bit of criticism that we had complacency or a little bit of a holiday camp in Queenstown," he said.
"I think it's inaccurate because I encouraged the guys to get out and do different things.
"I think they should go out and experience the different culture we are lucky enough to immerse ourselves in on tour, and have these different experiences which are really exciting."
The second Test between New Zealand and England begins on March 14.
