New Zealand reduce England to 209-8 after the morning session of day two of the first Test match at Lord's.

England collapsed from 192-4 to 201-8 as New Zealand fought back during the second morning of the first Test match at Lord's.

The hosts began the day on 160-4 after a slow first day, and that trend continued for the opening hour as Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow struggled to find any rhythm.

They managed to take the score to 192 before Tim Southee struck, first dismissing Root before trapping Matt Prior lbw with his first delivery to the batsman.

Stuart Broad survived the hat-trick ball, but he was out in the next over off the bowling of Neil Wagner, and Graeme Swann could only add five before he was sent back to the pavilion.

Bairstow and Steven Finn survived until lunch to take England to 209-8, but they will need to improve after the interval to take their side to a significant total.
