India will have to score 326 in order to win the first one-day international against England after a strong innings from the visitors.

England have secured a lead of 325-4 in their first innings in the opening one-day international against India courtesy of half-centuries by Alastair Cook and Ian Bell.

The pair secured a formidable partnership at the crease as they both surpassed 50 runs with Cook taking 75 from 83 balls, while Bell snatched 85 from 96 but they were both eventually dismissed by Suresh Raina.

Kevin Pietersen, who recently signed a full central contract with the ECB, missed out on reaching a half-century after being sent back to the pavilion on 44 due to a catch from Virat Kholi.

Despite Pietersen's dismissal, his efforts helped England surpass the 200 mark, while Eoin Morgan contributed with 41 runs off 38 balls to give the visitors a comfortable score.

Craig Kieswetter and Samit Patel managed to push England over 300 by claiming an impressive 20 off the penultimate over, which pushed them to 24 and 44 runs respectively.
