Stuart Broad suffers suspected broken nose

Bowler Stuart Broad retires hurt during England's first innings against India after suffering a suspected broken nose at Old Trafford.

England bowler Stuart Broad appears to have suffered a broken nose after being struck in the face during his team's first innings against India.

Broad arrived at the crease just before lunch and he looked to have been instructed to bat aggressively after hitting successive sixes off the bowling of Varun Aaron.

However, with the next delivery, the Indian seamer produced a bouncer that saw the ball go between the visor and grille to strike Broad on the bridge of the nose.

A bloodied Broad looked dazed after the incident and after several minutes of treatment, he ended his innings by retiring hurt on 12.

No announcement has been made on whether Broad will bowl at the start of India's second innings, which could begin during the afternoon session with England having one wicket remaining.
