England captain Stuart Broad blames the loss of early wickets for his side's defeat to the West Indies in the Super Eights of the T20 World Cup.

England captain Stuart Broad has admitted that early wickets cost his side once again as they lost their opening Super Eights match to the West Indies at the Twenty20 World Cup.

The defending champions were 0-2 after the first over following the dismissals of Craig Kieswetter and Luke Wright and went on to lose by 15 runs in Pallekele.

"I think 179 was a below-par score, so we're disappointed not to have chased that," said Broad. "We have to stop losing early wickets like that. We were quite happy with our bowling effort, I think it was a missed opportunity to win tonight."

England can still progress through to the semi-finals if they win their final two matches against New Zealand and Sri Lanka. The holders will still have an outside chance of making the last four if they lose the first of those encounters.
