Stuart Broad to undergo surgery on knee on September 4

England bowler Stuart Broad will have surgery on his knee on September 4 in an attempt to solve his long-term issues with tendonitis.

Stuart Broad has confirmed that he will be undergoing surgery on his knee on September 4 as he looks for a solution to a long-term injury concern.

The 28-year-old has suffered with patella tendonitis for over a year, with England being forced to manage his schedule to prevent the problem from making him miss too many games.

However, an opportunity to operate on the affected area has arisen as Broad sits out the one-day international series with India over the next few weeks.

Broad is expected to return to fitness in time to play a full part in the World Cup at the start of 2015.
