Stuart Broad blames bowlers for England defeat

Stuart Broad believes that the England bowlers should have done better against the West Indies in their first ODI on Friday.

England captain Stuart Broad has blamed his bowlers for their defeat to the West Indies in the first one-day international in Antigua.

The hosts recovered from 45-4 to post a total of 269-6, to which the Three Lions replied with 254-6.

"I wouldn't look too much at the batting - it was the last 10 overs with the ball that hurt us," BBC Sport quotes the 27-year-old as saying.

"If we had given the batsmen 230 to chase, we would have won. We lost a game in Adelaide [against Australia] we should have really won, but we need to learn to win these high-pressure games.

"Up to 40 overs we were fantastic. The spinners were awesome and we put ourselves in a fantastic position, but we conceded 100 off the last seven overs and we need to look at ourselves and know how we can get better."

The second game in the three-match ODI series will take also place in Antigua on Sunday.
