Tim Bresnan is confident that Graeme Swann will be fine despite being struck on his bowling arm by a delivery while batting against Essex today.

Tim Bresnan has eased concerns over the fitness of Graeme Swann after the spin bowler was struck on the forearm by a fast ball during day one of England's Ashes warm-up match against Essex this afternoon.

Swann needed treatment from the physio after being hit by a Tymal Mills delivery, but was deemed fit to bat on for another nine overs as he reached 62 not out.

Bresnan, who also needed treatment after being struck by a Mills delivery, and Swann put on a good eighth-wicket stand to help England reach 328-7 at close of play, and Bresnan believes that the 34-year-old has nothing to worry about with his injury.

"For a split second I was [concerned], and then I could see he could grip the bat," Bresnan said.

"If he's got his grip and can move his wrist, it's generally not broken. It's just going to be quite sore, but he'll be all right.

"Injury is part of the game, but obviously you don't want to be doing it in these sort of matches, trying to prepare for a big series coming up. We're happy that he's all right."

The 2013 Ashes Series will begin on July 10.
