James Anderson: 'England can continue momentum'

James Anderson believes that a new-look England ODI team can continue the Test squad's impressive form by beating Australia in the five-match limited-overs series.

James Anderson has backed England to continue to build momentum ahead of this winter's Ashes by beating Australia in the upcoming one-day international series.

The seamer, who has been rested for the five-match series, believes that the much-changed squad can continue the good work started by the Test side.

"Anytime you can beat Australia is a good thing," Anderson told Sky Sports News.

"The guys going in to the side will want to win and it's ultra-competitive against Australia every time you play against them.

"It's a great opportunity to keep the momentum going from the Test series and also a great opportunity for the guys coming in to the side who haven't played a lot of one day cricket to get a lot of experience."

The first match of the ODI series takes place on Friday at Headingley.
