England have won their one-day series with India after a rain-affected match at Lord's was tied.

The tourists produced their best batting performance of the tour as they posted a score of 280-5.

Parthiv Patel and Ajinkya Rahane put on an opening partnership of 65, before succumbing to the bowling of Stuart Broad.

Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli made less impressive impacts with the bat, but Suresh Raina hit 84 and captain MS Dhoni struck 78 to set England a target of 281.

Openers Alistair Cook [12] and Craig Kieswetter [12] didn't give England the best start at the crease, with Jonathan Trott hitting 23 before being bowled by Praveen Kumar.

Ian Bell's good form with the bat over the summer continued as he struck 54, but he was eventually bowled by Ravindra Jadeja.

Ravi Bopara was the hosts' most damaging performer in the middle, making 96, but he was caught at the boundary by Jadeja from Patel's bowling.

A chaotic period of rain disrupted the match, with both sides coming off before swiftly re-appearing. Both parties were confused as they were hauled off for a second time, only to emerge again soon after.

A revised score was set for England, but an even heavier spell of rain arrived which saw the players leave the field for a longer time, before officials made the decision to abandon the match and declare a draw.
