England have beaten India by three wickets in a rain-affected third one-day international at the Oval.

The tourists endured a disastrous start to their innings as they were reduced to 58-5, with dangerman Rahul Dravid being run out for two.

Ravindra Jadeja [78] and captain Mahendra Dhoni [69] settled India, and with the help of Ravichandran Ashwin [36] the one-day world champions posted a score of 234-7.

England proved more consistent across their batting order, with Alastair Cook [23] and Craig Kieswetter [51] getting England off to a good start before the rain hit.

After an hour's delay, the hosts were given the revised target of 218 courtesy of the Duckworth-Lewis method.

Ravi Bopara [40] and Tim Bresnan [28] pushed England towards that score before being bowled by Jadeja and Aswin respectively.

Stuart Broad and Graeme Swann were at the crease as they needed nine from the final two overs, which they made.

England are now 2-0 ahead in the five-match series, with two to play.

The next one-day international is on Sunday at Lord's.
