Eoin Morgan has insisted that he has not been relying on statistics to captain England at the World Cup.
Former England batsman Geoffrey Boycott has accused coach Peter Moores of not letting the players think for themselves by relying on statistics and facts about their opponents to decide their game-plan.
However, the England skipper told BBC Sport: "The majority of plans can go out of the window one or two overs in. That is probably my strength.
"Your gut feel as a captain and your past experiences are very important.
"It's also very important that you're in the right state of mind to realise what's going on around you, rather than sticking to a strict plan."
England face Bangladesh in a crucial Pool A match in the early hours of Monday morning.
