Former England opener Geoffrey Boycott has claimed that Eoin Morgan is overrated, ahead of the opening match of the Cricket World Cup.
Morgan, who will captain England in Australia, goes into the tournament in poor form having scored just two runs in his past four innings, including first-ball ducks in consecutive meetings with the Aussies.
The 28-year-old has played down concerns over his recent performances, but Boycott believes that he is overrated and struggles up against the better bowlers in world cricket.
"I don't think he's as good as he thinks he is, and I don't think he's as good as some people say he is," Boycott told BBC Radio 5 live.
"When top-class bowlers bowl against him he's not so clever and that's a big problem. I think you need to look at when you score runs, in any form of cricket, against what the quality of the opposition is, and what state of the game it is.
"If you get runs against moderate bowlers when the team is doing well, I think my mother could get a few of them!"
England open their World Cup campaign against hosts Australia at the MCG on Saturday.
