Sir Ian Botham slams "pathetic" England

Sir Ian Botham hits out at England following their shock exit at the Cricket World Cup.

Sir Ian Botham has branded the England team as "pathetic" after their failure to reach the Cricket World Cup quarter-finals.

The Three Lions were dumped out in the group stage of the tournament on Monday as they were beaten by Bangladesh.

Botham has now urged the England and Wales Cricket Board to make big changes behind the scenes in order to get the side performing again in one-day internationals.

He tweeted: "Well done Bangladesh! England pathetic! When are we going to pick the selectors to pick a team for the one-day format? Time for change!!"

England play their final group game of the Cricket World Cup on Friday against Afghanistan in Sydney.
