Kevin Pietersen has revealed his wish to continue playing for England until at least the 2015 Ashes amid speculation over his international future.
Following quotes from technical director Andy Flower about the 5-0 whitewash in Australia signalling the end of an era, some people have suggested that Pietersen will be one of the senior players to be dropped from the side.
There have also been talks of the 33-year-old batsman retiring, but he has stressed on Twitter that hanging up his boot is not on his agenda by indicating a desire to help England regain the urn on home soil the summer after next.
"Very disappointed to lose 5-0, and not to score more runs personally. Tough tour against a top class team. #Ashes," he tweeted.
"I want to thank all the England fans for their terrific support. And I'm determined to help regain the Ashes in 2015."
South Africa-born Pietersen has accumulated 8,181 runs in 104 Test matches at an average of 47.28, but only scored 294 in his 10 innings during the disastrous tour Down Under.
