England seamer Stuart Broad confirms that he will be fit to face Australia in the forthcoming Ashes series.

England bowler Stuart Broad has confirmed that he will be fit to face Australia in the forthcoming Ashes series.

The 26-year-old had a cortisone injection in his right shoulder after picking up an injury in last month's ICC Champions Trophy final.

Broad missed England's warm-up match against Essex this week, but the Nottinghamshire man has said that he will be ready for action when the Ashes series gets underway.

"I'm very confident. I didn't even really notice it was sore for four days, so that probably shows it wasn't overly serious," Broad is quoted as saying in The Telegraph.

"It only really hurt when I got to the top of my bowling action. That was where the swelling was, so an anti-inflammatory injection gets rid of the swelling, and that's as simple as it gets, really.

"So, I couldn't be more confident that I'll be 100% right. If the Test started today, I'd be ready to go."

The first Ashes Test begins at Trent Bridge on Wednesday.
