Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni has been fined by the Indian Premier League for accusing an umpire of making the "horrible decision" of dismissing opener Dwayne Smith.
During Chennai's 25-run defeat to Mumbai Indians in the opening qualifier on Tuesday, Smith was sent packing on an lbw call in the first over.
Replays showed that Lasith Malinga's delivery would have gone down the leg side, and Dhoni's reaction has resulted in the skipper being fined 10% of his match fee.
A statement from the IPL said that Dhoni has been punished "for inappropriate public comment in relation to an umpire's decision. Mr Dhoni admitted the Level 1 offence and accepted the sanction".
Chennai will take on the winner of Wednesday's eliminator between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday.
