Michael Clarke gives Australia fighting chance

A patient innings from Michael Clarke gives Australia a fighting chance going into day four of the first Test against the West Indies.

Australia skipper Michael Clarke has given his side a fighting chance to get back into their Test match against the West Indies with a patient 73.

The Aussies, chasing a total of 449-9, ended the third day on 248-5 despite at one point slumping to 133-4.

Australia resumed the day on 44-0, but had only added six runs before Ed Cowan was caught behind for 14. Darren Sammy claimed another wicket when he got David Warner caught at second slip by Darren Bravo.

Ricky Ponting was run out for four after a mix-up with Shane Watson, who was later dismissed for 39.

In came Clarke to steady the ship, putting on a fifth wicket stand of 82 with Michael Hussey before being caught out from a Devendra Bishoo delivery.

Bad light stopped play at the end of the day with Hussey and Michael Wade unbeaten on 47 and 19 respectively, 201 runs behind going into day four.
