Steven Finn was delighted with the way that England recovered from their batting collapse to bowl themselves back onto level terms on the first day of The Ashes.
After electing to have first use of the Trent Bridge pitch, and reaching 98-2 at lunch, the hosts were dismissed for just 215, with Peter Siddle starring for Australia with figures of 5-50.
Finn and James Anderson each took two wickets in the final session to reduce Australia to 75-4 at the close, and Finn feels that the seamers were rewarded for bowling good areas.
He told BBC Sport: "I think we fought back really well in that last session, Jimmy bowled beautifully and I managed to pick up a couple of wickets. The batters said it is a good wicket but there is value in holding a length and trying to hit the top of off stump.
"I thought we played really nicely until lunch but we know we deal well with setbacks and it's important we set the tone tomorrow morning. The cloud cover was helpful as was having the lights on so we'll wake up and see how it is."
Middlesex paceman Finn picked up the wickets of Shane Watson and Ed Cowan in consecutive balls after being preferred in the England XI to Tim Bresnan and Graeme Onions.
