Australian bowler Patrick Cummins sidelined through injury

Patrick Cummins is ruled out of Australia's World Cup clash with Afghanistan due to injury.

Australia fast bowler Patrick Cummins will miss their Cricket World Cup tie with Afghanistan this week due to an unspecified injury.

The 21-year-old has had an injury-hit career to date, with back problems spoiling much of the past three years, but his fine form has seen him muscle his way back into contention in recent months.

Josh Hazlewood is expected to replace him for Wednesday's match, which the co-hosts will be keen to win after their defeat to New Zealand last time out.

Australia have other injury concerns with captain Michael Clarke and James Faulkner doubtful to play.
