Joe Joyce confident if Dean Gardiner clash comes

Team GB boxer Joe Joyce looks ahead to a possible semi-final match-up with Republic of Ireland's Dean Gardiner at the 2015 European Games.

Team GB boxer Joe Joyce is confident that he would beat Ireland's Dean Gardiner if the pair were to meet at the 2015 European Games..

Joyce will fight Mantas Valavicius in the quarter-finals of the showpiece event on Monday, while Gardiner, who has impressed in Baku, will meet the Frenchman Tony Yoka.

Should the pair come through their respective fights, they will meet in the semi-finals. Joyce, however, has beaten the Irishman in each of their two match-ups to date.

"Yeah, I have fought him twice and beat him both times," Joyce told reporters.

Joyce won gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow last summer.
