British heavyweight David Price has secured a rematch with Tony Thompson following his surprise defeat to the American last month.
The duo will clash on July 6 at Liverpool's Echo Arena, the same venue where the 41-year-old inflicted a first career defeat on Price with a second-round knockout.
"Because it was such a big win for Thompson there was a lot of interest in him from rival promoters, but we got there and he has signed," said Price's promoter Frank Maloney.
"There were other options for David also, but he and his trainer Franny Smith were adamant they wanted Thompson again."
Thompson was said to have been reluctant to face Price again, with the veteran hoping to take on Tyson Fury following his defeat of the Liverpudlian.
