David Price says that Audley Harrison took on too much after turning professional following his gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

David Price has vowed not to follow in the footsteps as Audley Harrison.

The pair will meet in the ring at the Echo Arena in Liverpool on October 13, which will be the first defence of Price's British and Commonwealth titles.

Price, who won bronze in Beijing four years ago, said that Harrison, who won gold in Sydney in 2000, said that the 40-year-old has failed as a professional boxer.

"He has the talent but he more or less wrote the book on what not to do when he turned professional," said Price. "He took too much on like promoting and managing rather than concentrating on what he's good at.

"I've looked at what he did and told myself I'd do it like this instead. Audley was a superstar as soon as he turned professional. I haven't been – I've had to work for it."

Harrison's last fight saw him stop Ali Adams in the fourth round.
