Lennox Lewis backs Ricky Hatton comeback

Lennox Lewis believes that Ricky Hatton is making his return to the ring after a three-year absence for the right reasons.

Former world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis has insisted that he believes Ricky Hatton is returning to the ring for the right reasons.

Hatton makes his comeback this weekend against Vyacheslav Senchenko at the MEN Arena after more than three years away from boxing.

Lewis is unsure if Hatton will be successful on Saturday but thinks that Hatton won't know if he has made the right choice until the bout begins.

He told Boxing News: "I'll be very interested to see how Ricky gets on.

"He seems to be making his comeback for the right reasons and he has not been forced into it because he needs the money. Whether he can be the same fighter as before is a huge question.

"Three years is a long time to be out and he may need to adapt his style to be a champion again. He is a clever enough fighter to do this but he will know when he is in the ring what he has left - only a fight can truly tell him that."

The 34-year-old headlines a sold-out show in his hometown against the Ukrainian, who is a former world champion in his own right.
