Amir Khan reveals that a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jnr "could happen" at Wembley in the next year.

Amir Khan has said that he could go head to head with Floyd Mayweather Jnr at Wembley Stadium in the near future.

The WBA and IBF light-welterweight champion has claimed that he aims to take on “the best” fighter of his era within 12 months’ time.

"I think every young fighter wants to fight the best out there and in this era Floyd is the best along with Manny Pacquiao," the British fighter told Sky Sports.

"I can't fight Manny because we train together and we're good friends but Floyd is a possibility. Floyd is a fight that - in the next 12 months - could happen.”

The 24-year-old believes that the prospect of battling Mayweather will be sure to draw the crowds to London.

“To bring that fight to the UK - Floyd has said that he would want to fight in Wembley Stadium - what a huge fight that would be,” he added.

"I'm sure with someone like Floyd and myself, it would be a sell-out."

Khan will next face the winner of the fight between Jorge Barrios and Erik Morales.
