Mikkel Kessler open to Carl Froch trilogy

Mikkel Kessler says that a third bout with Carl Froch is not beyond the realms of possibility.

Danish super-middleweight Mikkel Kessler has said that he is open to the possibility of a third instalment to his rivalry with IBF and WBA champion Carl Froch.

The pair have been involved in two gruelling 12-round contests, with Kessler winning in Herning three years ago, and Froch redeeming himself in London in May.

"I would do a third one," Kessler told Ringside. "But now I have to be honest - I have to take a vacation and think about things. I have been fighting for so many years, and if I take a lot of beatings in my career it's not good for my health - and that's number one.

"Now I've got to be a father and so I better think about the future. But still... Froch III? That could happen!

"I would go back to London. I don't care. Maybe not a neutral place because people wouldn't recognise us or know about boxing - and people would have to travel. So I think we have to do it in London or in Copenhagen."

Froch is expected to announce a date for his mandatory challenger George Groves in the near future.
