Anthony Joshua to fight Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley in April 2017

Anthony Joshua will fight Wladimir Klitschko for the unified world heavyweight title at Wembley Stadium on April 29, 2017.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed that Anthony Joshua will fight Wladimir Klitschko for the unified world heavyweight title at Wembley Stadium on April 29, 2017.

The pair have long been tipped to face each other during Joshua's rise up through the heavyweight ranks, and Hearn made the announcement after the Brit's third-round stoppage of Eric Molina at Manchester Arena.

The win took Joshua to 18-0, all of which have been knockouts, and the IBF world heavyweight champion will now make the step-up to face Klitschko, who joined Joshua in the ring for the announcement.

"We move on to a bigger arena, more people can view it. This is the step up people have wanted. Klitschko wants his belts back, may the best man win," Joshua told Sky Sports News.

"I focus on myself, that's how I beat Wladimir Klitschko."

Klitschko added: "He is the best man in the division and I believe this excitement speaks for itself. This is what the fans want and this fight must happen. I've been doing this 26 years and have a lot of knowledge which will help me in the ring."

Klitschko has not fought since being beaten by Tyson Fury in October 2015.
