David Haye's manager Adam Booth has insisted that the British boxer was willing to fight Vitali Klitschko, despite reports claiming that the 31-year-old had pulled out of a potential bout.
Haye has been open about his desire to go up against Klitschko but following the Brit's fifth-round knockout of Dereck Chisora, it is understood that Klitchsko is not interested in setting up a fight with the former WBA champion.
"We have never turned down Vitali," said Booth. "We always have been willing to fight him in September but he tried to dictate who David should fight next.
"We made it clear David would fight Chisora in early July then Klitschko in September. They told us if we fought Chisora next then we'd be out of a fight against Vitali. We never said we'd not fight Vitali."
Meanwhile, Klitschko has maintained a desire to work in politics after retiring from boxing.
