David Haye: 'I'm the best in the world'

David Haye says that his victory over Dereck Chisora on Saturday has sent out a message to Vitali Klischko and the rest of the world.

David Haye has insisted that he is the best heavyweight boxer in the world following his victory at the weekend.

The Hayemaker defeated Dereck Chisora with a fifth-round technical knockout in the highly-anticipated grudge match at Upton Park on Saturday night.

Haye believes that the victory has sent out a message to the rest of the world.

"I believe that I'm the best in the world and this performance shows I'm the best in the world because a lot of people rank Vitali Klitschko as number one, but he struggled with Dereck over 12 rounds," he told talkSPORT.

"I blasted Dereck out tonight and that has sent shockwaves around the world. In an ideal world I'd fight Vitali Klitschko next. That's the fight I've always wanted. When we signed the fight with [his brother] Wladimir, [Adam Booth] always believed Vitali's style would suit me the best.

"I don't believe, at his age now, he'd want any of that because I was hitting Dereck on the chops with shots there, he was all over the shop. I don't believe Vitali could take those shots. The premise of this fight was to put on a performance that clearly was better than Vitali Klitschko's [against Chisora]."

Chisora's previous fight saw him go 12 rounds with WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko in February earlier this year.
