Elbow injury scuppers Carl Froch's plans for March fight

Britain's supper-middleweight world champion Carl Froch suffers an elbow injury which forces him to scrap plans to potentially fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in March.

Carl Froch has suffered an elbow injury in training which has forced him to scrap potential plans to fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in March.

The WBA and IBF super-middleweight champion had his sights set on a first Las Vegas bout, but is now prepared to wait until the summer to next step into the ring.

"I'm disappointed to have to let this opportunity go but at this stage in my career I have to make every fight count," the 37-year-old Briton told reporters.

"I will get some treatment and then we will look to make this fight or another big fight in the early summer."

Froch's last fight in May saw him claim a second straight win over domestic rival George Groves at Wembley.
