Vitali Klitschko's promoter Bernd Boente has revealed that negotiations are ongoing regarding the possibility of his fighter taking on David Haye in 2012.
Reports this morning had suggested that Haye had no intention of renewing his boxing licence following his defeat to Vitali's brother Wladimir in July.
However, any plans that the 31-year-old had to retire may be shelved with the possibility of a bout against the elder Klitschko brother on the horizon.
"We are in talks," Boente told BBC Radio Five Live. "Haye fought Wladimir, the best in the division and lost.
"He wants to redeem himself and he can't do that against a mediocre opponent."
Vitali, 40, is the current WBC world heavyweight champion.
