England boxer Savannah Marshall has insisted that she knows what to expect when she steps out in the women's middleweight semi-finals at the Commonwealth Games tonight.
The 23-year-old, who missed out on a medal at the 2012 Olympic Games following a shock quarter-final defeat, will take on Nigeria's Edith Ogoke at the SECC in Glasgow.
Marshall bounced back from London 2012 disappointment by competing in two World Championships finals, and says that support of 'home' supporters can spur her on to glory.
"I try not to think about the Olympics anymore," Marshall told The Guardian. "I've boxed in a World Championship final twice, so I now know what to expect. When you're abroad they're shouting for the other opponent, but here they're all for Great Britain.
"For now, it's Commonwealths all the way and I'm focusing on the next fight now. This is the best I've ever felt, no doubt. I don't know whether that's because I'm boxing weak opposition or I'm just on top of the world, but I know I've trained hard and I'm going to do myself proud."
Marshall missed the European Championships in June with a shoulder injury.
