One quarter of Great Britain's Paralympic bronze-medal boccia team David Smith believes that he and his teammates needed to "bounce back" after getting crushed by Thailand.
The host nation slumped to an 18-1 loss in yesterday's semi-final but managed to nab a spot on the podium with a bronze medal today after defeating Portugal 7-5.
"It was great to bounce back from a heavy defeat," said Smith. "The Thailand guys took us apart in the semis and even if we were at our best, they would have probably still beaten us.
"We knew we could beat Portugal if we played our game. We had a slight squeaky-bum moment at the end of the fifth set when we left it a bit open. We would usually nail them which was a bit strange but happy we saw it out."
Smith's quartet included Daniel Bentley, Nigel Murray and Zoe Robinson.
