New York Knicks cut Lamar Odom, sign Cole Aldrich

The New York Knicks release veteran forward Lamar Odom and agree a new deal with center Cole Aldrich.

The New York Knicks have announced that they have re-signed center Cole Aldrich after releasing Lamar Odom.

The veteran forward joined the team towards the end of the 2013-14 season, and had been under contract for another year.

However, president Phil Jackson said in a statement: "Unfortunately, Lamar was unable to uphold the standards to return as an NBA player. We found it necessary to free up the roster spot."

Aldrich, who had been a free agent after coming to the end of his previous deal with the Knicks, featured in 46 games for the team last season.
