Carmelo Anthony has reportedly decided to opt out of the final year of his contract with the New York Knicks.
The forward is expected to test free agency later this off-season, although he has previously indicated that he would be willing to re-sign with the Knicks.
According to ESPN, the 29-year-old still intends to leave the team despite president Phil Jackson and new coach Derek Fisher being keen to keep him at Madison Square Garden.
Anthony, who joined the Knicks in 2010, averaged 27.4 points per game last season, but the team missed out on a place in the playoffs.
