Carmelo Anthony: New York Knicks have "new-found energy"

New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony believes that the franchise has a "new-found energy" this season after making a 2-1 start.

New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony has revealed that he believes the franchise has parted with the negative energy from last season.

The Knicks responded to a heavy defeat in their season opener to the Chicago Bulls last week with back-to-back wins, including a victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers to move to 2-1.

"I think just overall, not pointing anything out, but just overall from day one last year the energy was just not right," Anthony told reporters.

"This year, you could just feel the total difference stepping into this gym, talking to guys, talking to the staff, talking to the players. Everybody has a new-found energy so it's just a lot different now."

The Knicks won just 37 games last season and team president Phil Jackson appointed Derek Fisher as the new coach, while he also made various changes to the roster in order to "change some of the chemistry".
